Ídolos tras los altares

We’re thrilled to announce our soon-to-be-live third online exhibition ÍDOLOS TRAS LOS ALTARES, as part of our Fall 2024 exhibitions programme! This show, featuring seventeen awe-inspiring artists, is informed by Anita Brenner’s ‘Idols Behind Altars’ (1929), which sought to tell a story of transculturation and syncretism by way of exploring the use of signs and symbols to communicate both obvious and hidden meanings. Steeped in the syncretism of the contemporary moment, the included artists scrutinize the entanglements of cultural practices, question values and ways of knowing, and reclaim systems of belief.  Speaking to these subjects, their layered works create windows through which one can glimpse both what is hidden and what is revealed.

✨Housed in a digital space designed by architects Ricardo Fornoni / @creamatelier and Cristopher Garcia / @cgstudio_3d, that melds inside and outside seamlessly, the resulting atmosphere converses with both the imaginary and the sacred.
